Man and Girl with Wicker Baskets
A bisque porcelain figurine group of a man and girl, Czech Republic, unsigned, each carrying a wicker basket in a small genre scene of everyday rural life. Bisque, porcelain fired without a final glaze, was prized for exactly this kind of figure: its matte, slightly grainy surface reads closer to skin and cloth than the high gloss of tableware, which is why unglazed groups like this one were made for the mantelpiece, not the dinner table. Good condition with a repair, sold as such. One piece, one new owner, then closed.
