Woman and Man, Pair of CDV Portraits
A pair of carte-de-visite portraits, woman and man, Studio B. Bicovsky, Prague, circa 1865-1875. The carte-de-visite was the format that made photography a social habit rather than a luxury in the mid-19th century, small enough to trade with friends and family the way a calling card was. Albumen prints on card, sepia, sold together as the pair. One pair, one new owner, then closed.
